Stephen W. Bragg
June 12, 1947 - June 11, 2011
RINCON – Stephen W. Bragg, 64, died Saturday, June 11, 2011, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
A native of Millen, he had lived in Savannah for most of his life.
Stephen joined the Savannah Fire Department in 1967 and over the next 42 years rose through the ranks to Assistant Chief of Operations, retiring in 2009. He also retired from Sears and Roebuck in 2003 with 32 years of service. He was a devoted and loving husband and father who enjoyed gardening and NASCAR.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 43 years, Brenda Bragg, of Rincon; his two daughters, Aimee Bragg of Atlanta and Heidi Bragg of Rincon; five brothers, Danny E. Bragg Shirley of Statesboro, John F. Bragg of Savannah, Randal P. Bragg of Campobello, SC, Christopher L. Bragg of Rincon, and Timothy D. Bragg Debbie of Guyton; a sister, Pamela L. Rockett Troy of Inman, SC; his beloved dog, Betsy Rose; and several nieces and nephews. Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, John Willie and Annie Laura Bragg, and a sister, Nancy A. Bragg.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel with Bishop Larry Flippo officiating.
The interment will follow at 3:00 pm at Morgan's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Townsend, GA.
